Jennifer & Tal at The Grand View Estate

February 20, 2018  •  1 Comment

When Jennifer and Tal first booked me I was excited and intrigued about their ideas for the wedding. I had never been to The Grand View Estate in Jaffrey, NH before and Jenn was describing how they would have the whole property to themselves and would be getting ready in an old mansion on the property with big rooms and a lot to play with when it came to the photography. She wanted to make sure we budgeted extra time to make use of the space.

When the big day finally came I'm glad we had that time because there was so much opportunity for great photos not only in the mansion, but over the whole property too. There were grassy fields and a spectacular view of Mount Monadnock.

This was also a jewish wedding. Tal, originally being from Israel, had a lot of his friends and family fly in to celebrate with them. They certainly needed the whole mansion for themselves. There were a lot of groomsmen! The guys got ready downstairs in the green room (literally) while the girls were upstairs in the master suite.

Jenn looked stunning in her dress. The girls wore light pink dresses which were all different in style to suit them. I've noticed that becoming more of a theme lately and think it's great. The guys were in a light grey. Once dressed we took advantage of some of the decor downstairs in the main living room area with Jenn. She could really work the camera and gave me some true gold! There's more than one photo of hers in my portfolio!

The couple opted for a first look which we did on the front side of the house. From there I spent some time with just the two of them taking photos before bringing the bridal party in. I feel like we really got a good blend of shots inside and out. I loved the "green" room with the books behind them while they sit on the couch. It's really unique and stands out over a lot of typical formal photos. Places like this really spark creativity!

Prior to the ceremony Jenn and Tal signed the Ketubah, a Jewish document. This traditional ceremony including two witnesses was a new experience for me and interesting to witness. The ceremony followed with Mount Monadnock as the backdrop.

The reception was a great time from the beginning. One of Tal's brothers played guitar for their first dance. All of the guys (and girl) said a few word for the toast including a little song. It became a more of a family affair than usual! After the cake cutting the DJ had them play a fun game to see how well they knew each other. "Hold the hat up if Tal controls the TV remote at home or the bouquet up if Jenn does... ". It can get really funny!

It was a great celebration at a great venue and I hope you enjoy some photos from their day!
