Kristyl & Matt's Waterville Valley Wedding

February 01, 2018  •  Leave a Comment

New Hampshire's White Mountains are such an amazing part of the state. It is a place of respite and quiet for my wife and I when we get a chance to get away together so it's a wonderful thing when I get to shoot a wedding with an awesome couple up in the region.

Kristyl and Matt had a beautiful late spring wedding at Waterville Valley in Campton. I had shot one wedding there the prior season but we were able to explore more this time thanks to much better weather! I hadn't realized there was such a small, self contained little town there! A photographer loves a place with lots of options for photos and Waterville Valley certainly offers plenty of locations. There is the obvious scenery but then there are also other spots that give you a different look and feeling.

Kristyl and Matt both got ready at the Golden Eagle Lodge. I had one of my trusty second shooters, Mark, covering the guys while I hung with the girls. Kristyl had custom made some truly unique bouquets that really stood out to me. All the girls had custom shirts with their initials on them. The guys were looking sharp in a light grey. Weddings are getting less and less cookie-cutter and it's nice to see how different couple's make their wedding day their own.

Kristyl and Matt opted for a first look which always makes me happy. It allows for a private moment between the couple and opens up more time for photos of them and the bridal party. Especially at a place like Waterville Valley, there's a lot of walking involved as the area is pretty spread out. Needless to say Matt thought she looked stunning, as did I.

They have a great spot for ceremonies at Waterville. The altar sits right on Cochran Pond with a view over the mountains.

The reception tent sits behind the conference center just a little ways up the road. It's definitely one of the bigger tents I've been to before. Lots of room for dancing and moving about. The decor was clean and classy. There were a variety of different cupcakes for the sweets after dinner along with a small cake (or giant cupcake) that they used for the cake-cutting ceremony. The center pieces were all named after the NH mountain peaks that I thought was neat.

After dinner the party got going as it usually does. We were treated to a full re-creation of N'Sync's 'Bye Bye Bye' by one the guests. Truly an epic display! The photo booth was a big hit with lots of fun hats, glasses and more.

I hope you enjoy some photos from their day!
