Steven & Kristen blogged!

October 21, 2013  •  1 Comment

I had never met Steven and Kristen before their engagement session. We were introduced through my brother, Gareth, and I had corresponded with them via email through their booking. With it being late summer we scheduled their engagement session during the fall to take advantage of the foliage. It was Steven who suggested Maudslay State Park in Newburyport MA. I hadn't heard of it before but I did some research and saw that it certainly seemed to boast some beautiful areas that could work wonders for a photo shoot.

I arrived early and took a walk around. The park is huge so I got a good workout in before Steven and Kristen arrived! One of the first things that struck me was a bright yellow tree at the end of a pathway leading towards the center of the park. I try to schedule these shoots when the sun is starting to go down. As the day comes to a close the sun enriches the colors and provides a great highlight on your subjects. With the spectacular colors of Autumn I knew we would get some great shots with the sun super-charging the foliage.

Not every couple is down to earth and easy to get along with but Steven and Kristen were just that. I'm not going to lie, photo shoots can be awkward! Asking couples to pose and kiss on cue often makes for a challenging session but these two worked well with the camera. When true compatibility shines through you can tell, and I feel that our engagement session illustrates a couple who are meant to be together. Congratulations guys and I look forward to your big day!
